Having a summer schedule is a necessity! I’ve said this probably a million times but Michigan summers are the best! The summers are not long enough and the spring weather (especially this year) didn’t really exist. It went from 30 degrees to 80 degrees within a couple days. So this year I wanted to make sure I took full advantage of summer.
I work from home a majority of the day and I live on a lake so looking outside, wanting to throw my computer into the garbage, is very tempting. The official start of summer is coming up this week so I am determined to take full advantage of this summer and not let work or personal things consume my summer.
Here is My Summer Schedule for Working From Home
7:00am– Wake up. This will be when my alarm goes off for 30 minutes until I actually get up. I’m an adult but still human.
7:30am– Out of bed and drink my coffee, eat breakfast. I like to sit and enjoy my coffee while eating breakfast. Sit outside! Enjoy the sunshine and fuel your body for the day.
8:00am– Get ready for the day. Depending on how much “getting ready” I need to do. Sometimes a quick 15 minutes or 45 minutes. Depends. But get out of your pajamas!
8:30am to 12:30pm– Work! Emails, phone calls, pretty much anything to do with computers and cell phones.
12:30pm-2:00pm– Personal time! Spend most of this time outside. Workout, lunch. Any errands including grocery shopping, store runs. Laundry. I really need to work on utilizing this time to get personal items checked off my list and feed my soul a bit.
2:00pm-6:00pm– Any face-to-face meetings or appointments will happen during this time. I hate doing any meetings or appointments in the morning because I don’t like to interrupt my morning work flow.
6:00pm-8:00pm– Dinner, walk the dogs & wrap up all the days items. Make my to-do list for the next day. Wrap up all outstanding items from the day.
8:00pm-10:00pm– Power clean, shower, bed time! Going to bed at a decent hour has always been a struggle for me. I’m a night person but I’m training myself. It helps when the sun rises at 6am. Power cleaning before bed makes my mornings much more pleasurable.
Sticking to a summer schedule with the type of work I do is hard! By sticking to this I hope to get more work done, feel less guilt and fuel my soul with sunshine. Stay tuned for follow up posts about this topic and working from home.
