Whether you are headed out for a quick weekend trip or a long vacation, having the perfect carry-on is a an absolute must. Knowing what your carry-on essentials are, the pieces/things you are always reaching for during a flight, makes flying so much easier. I’ve come to realize the importance of this and have put together a check list so that I’m always sure to have everything I need during a flight. Each piece below is something I NEVER EVER fly without.
Essentials for the Perfect Carry-On
The first and most essential part of the perfect carry-on is the bag itself. A good tote bag, preferably with a lot of pockets to keep things organized, is an absolute must. I recently found this tote bag from Target and it is the ideal carry-on bag, in my opinion. It has a TON of pockets, so everything has it’s place. Plus you can’t beat the price.
You should be as comfortable as possible (while still looking nice) while flying, so a cardigan, scarf (that can double as a blanket) and a neck pillow, are all essentials for me. You never know if the flight is going to be hot or cold, so having pieces that transition easily without a lot of fuss is key.
Sleeping isn’t always an option while flying, so finding ways to stay busy is necessary. I always bring a magazine as well as a book, my laptop (although this is a last resort) and a notebook and pen to do some writing. Headphones are definitely another essential, preferably noise cancelling.
Snacks, a water bottle and gum. Never ever fly without them. Most airports have places to fill up water bottles now, so it’s much more convenient then purchasing a bottle. I’m also not a huge fun or airplane food, so I always make sure to bring an RX or Lara Bar with me.
Flying is incredibly dehydrating for your skin, so it’s a good idea to have some necessities to replenish it. My hands get super dry during flights and I’m always reaching for some lotion. Same goes for the lips. As for the wipes, it’s always a good idea to wipe your entire area down. You may look crazy, but people will be wishing they had their own wipes as well 🙂
