Natural skin care products are becoming more and more available. And the best part about that is you can easily find high-quality products that work, without having to spend a ton of money. We have both recently moved towards an all natural skin care routine. So we wanted to share what we are currently using. Since we both have very different skin concerns, we loved that we were able to include a wide variety of products, all at different price points, but that are all natural and seem to do be doing the trick!
Shannon’s Natural Skin Care Routine
My skin care routine is forever a work in progress. I’ve been pretty open about my struggle with hormonal acne and since I refuse to cover up the issue with yet another prescription, I am taking the steps to cure it naturally and once and for all. In the book Woman Code, the author discusses a lot about cycle syncing, which is exactly what I am doing with my skin care at the moment. So while it is an all natural skin care routine, the products I use and when, vary depending on the time of the month (or what phase of my cycle I’m in).
I’m pretty new to the whole concept, but it’s helped me to really pay attention to my skin and use the necessary products based on what I feel is needed. As I continue to learn more and work towards healing my acne naturally, I have no doubt the products and my routine will change. At the moment though, this list consists of my current favorite products that I have seen a noticeable and beneficial difference from.
I fell in love with Tata Harper products after using the Nourishing Oil Cleanser. So when I was looking for a gentle, all natural facial cleanser, Tata Harper was my first stop. This Clarifying Cleanser is what I have been washing my face with for the past couple of weeks and I absolutely love it! My skin feels clean, but not at all dried out, which is especially important this time of year. I use this only at night and depending on how my skin is feeling I sometimes double wash to make sure everything is removed.
Jojoba Oil is what I always use to remove my eye makeup, however I also use this to wash my face at certain times. To go back to the cycle syncing, during the end of your luteal phase, using an oil based cleanser is recommended to help with sebum production. So again, depending on the time of the month or how my skin feels, I will use jojoba oil to cleanse my skin and remove all my make-up.
This is a new addition to my all natural skin care routine, but I am completely obsessed. This REN Glycolatic Radiance Renewal Mask is an all natural mask that you apply to your face and leave for about 10 minutes. I’ve been using it 2-3X per week for the past 2 weeks. When I use this I notice a huge difference in the texture/tone of my skin. I am not a huge mask person, but this will be a product that is included in my routine for a long time!
Loooove a good hydrating mist. This Herbivore Rose Hibiscus Face Mist has to hands down by my favorite. It’s light, smells so good and feels absolutely amazing. It is the one part of my skin care routine that I most look forward to. You can use this whenever you want, however I prefer to use it as a toner after washing my face and prior to applying my moisturizer.
I’ve raved about this Kypris Clearing Serum on multiple occasions. It’s the best all natural spot treatment I have come across. It doesn’t over dry the area, but it does a lot to help clear up the problem. I’ve been using it for about 2-3 years now and will never switch this out of my routine. It is a bit pricey, but I promise it works and it also lasts a long time!
This Sustainable Youth Firming Serum is the newest addition to my natural skin care routine, but so far I am loving it. Since my main concern at the moment is clearing up my acne, I haven’t been using this all over my fave, just around my eyes and forehead. I’m a firm believer in needing eye cream! For the past couple of weeks using this, I am very happy with it!
Very much in love with this Hydrating Cream! When I first used it, I honestly did not think I was going to like it. It is extremely light and doesn’t necessarily feel like it is going to do too much. However it works amazingly well! My skin never feels dry in the morning. After using it for several weeks, I love the light weight texture.
Okay, so in the morning, I don’t go too crazy. However when my skin is feeling a little dull I love, love, love this Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser. It’s a super light exfoliate that you apply to dry skin. It works wonders in removing that dullness and restoring a bit of glow!
Okay, and lastly, this Acure Brightening Facial Scrub has to be one of my all time favorite skin care products. It’s a much more aggressive exfoliator than the one above, so this is what I use when I need a good exfoliation. You should exfoliate at least 2x a week and this one, while aggressive, is not overly abrasive and will get the job done. If I could only choose one product from my current all natural skin care routine, this would hands down be it.
Allison’s Natural Skin Care Routine
My skincare routine has changed a lot throughout my adult life. In my early to mid 20’s, I didn’t care too much about my skin! I neglected it by drinking too much alcohol, drinking too little water, falling asleep with makeup on, not wearing sunscreen and etc. I neglected my dry, sensitive skin for too long. Now that I am in my 30’s, I care A LOT! My skin is at it’s best when it’s hydrated. I have sensitive, dry skin so my skin is at it’s best when I use the right, hydrating products. But I don’t forget to drink a ton of water throughout the day too. Within the last few months, I have started my transition from very potent, skin irritating chemical products to an all natural skin care routine. Here is my current natural skin care routine and the products I am using:
1.) Sustainable Youth Ultra Creamy Cleansing Lotion
The first step, wash my face! One thing that I never forget to do at night is to wash my face before bed. After a long day in makeup and collecting dirt and bacteria on my face, I have to wash my face. If I don’t, I will wake up with clogged pores and pimples…never fails! Not to mention that your face needs time to repair. It cannot repair when makeup, dirt and oils are covering your skin. I just started using this Sustainable Youth Cleaning Lotion a couple weeks ago and love it so far.
2.) Burt’s Bees Micellar Cleansing Water
I just started using this Burt’s Bees Micellar Water about 6 months ago and I can’t live without it! If I had to choose only one product to use, it would be this one…hands down! After washing my face or after getting out of the shower, I take a cotton pad and wipe my face down with this stuff. I am shocked by how much more makeup and dirt comes off of my face. Makeup is hard to get off with just washing your face so this gets every last bit of makeup, dirt and oils off of my face. I let my face dry for about 30 seconds before putting the rest of my skincare products on.
Burt’s Bees products were a product that I didn’t know I’d like so much. I started off my collection with the micellar water and have been adding Burt’s Bees products to my skincare routine ever since. This moisturizer is my “daytime” go-to! The Burt’s Bees Daily Moisturizing Cream for Sensitive Skin is light and does not feel greasy under my makeup. During the spring and summer months, I will wear a moisturizer with SPF but during the winter months this moisture has been great! Remember, if you are out in the sun- wear a moisturizer with SPF. It will save your skin from so much damage!
I, 100% believe, that you need a night serum under your moisturizers. It helps your skin rejuvenate as you sleep and helps prep the skin for maximum moisture! This Sustainable Youth Night Serum is a new product that I’ve been trying for a couple weeks and I couldn’t be happier with it. There is nothing better than waking up with hydrating skin! This serum is on the more expensive side but it’s a good one.
5.) Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Night Cream
At night- after I wash my face, wipe it down with micellar water and add night serum- next I put on this Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Night Cream. In the winter months, my skin is crazy dry! Last year, I experienced rosacea type redness all winter long. It was terrible! Nothing worked. I finally found a cream that works on my skin. Knock on wood, I haven’t had too bad of a rosacea breakout this winter. Also, most thick creams I have used will leave me with breakouts but this cream has not. Win!
6.) Burt’s Bees Eye Cream for Sensitive Skin
If I don’t drink enough water or get enough sleep, I wake up with dark circles under my eyes…ugh! This Burt’s Bees Eye Cream for Sensitive Skin is lightweight, hypoallergenic and hydrates the eye area. This eye cream works great under concealer too- it doesn’t leave a “caked on concealer” look like some eye creams do. I really love this stuff!
7.) Leven Rose 100% Pure Natural Moroccan Rose Water
The rose water I usually use, Teak Naturals Rose Water, is currently sold out. But this Levon Rose Rose Water is a great option too! After I put on all of my skincare products I spritz my face and neck with rose water. It is an anti-inflammatory that can reduce redness, dermatitis, eczema and get rid of acne. It feels so refreshing and smells great too. My fiancé is obsessed with it too!
8.) Burt’s Bees Lip Balm
Not only does your skin need hydration but your lips do too! I layer this Burt’s Bees Moisturizing Lip Balm on at night time to make sure I don’t wake up with peeling, dry lips. The beeswax is a great hydrating ingredient. Another good tip- exfoliate your lips too!
9.) Charlotte’s Web CBD Oil
Last but certainly, not least- CBD Oil! CBD Oil has anti-inflammatory actions. It has so many benefits that include helping with conditions like acne, psoriasis, and eczema. This Charlotte’s Web Full Strength CBD Oil is one of my favorite products, I’m obsessed (read more about why I love it- here)! Every night before bed, after my nightly natural skin care routine- taking this CBD oil is my last step. I’ve noticed a huge differences in my body since taking adding this to my nightly skin care routine.
