Men’s Perspective of a Perfect Date Night

October 10, 2018 By The Middle Edit

Men's Perspective of a Perfect Date Night

Matt’s birthday is quickly approaching so I want to plan a perfect date night for him. When I picture date night, I picture listening to live music somewhere or enjoying a good meal, wine and a movie at home. But I quickly realized “Oh my gosh, I have no idea what his idea of a perfect date night would be”. Ugh, I felt horrible! I called my sister to see if she knew her husbands idea of a perfect date night and she replied “No, actually I don’t!”. Wondering if my sister and I were the anomaly, I asked around. Every woman I asked had no idea what their husband, boyfriend or fiancés idea of a perfect date night would be.

Good news is most men want to make us (their partners) happy so date night is usually carved around what we want to do or what they think we want to do. But that has to be exhausting! Men deserve/need their needs met as well. Shannon and I decided to ask some men what their idea of a perfect date night would be and I was pleasantly surprised! The ideas are simple but perfect.

Here are some men’s perspective of a perfect date night…

“Go shopping and then to a movie.” – Nick, 29 ½

“I don’t know…no kids, out on a deck somewhere with drinks and nothing to worry about for hours” – Sam, 30

“My ideal date night is all about activities. It could be as simple as riding bikes, playing a board game, putt putt or top golf, trying a new restaurant or a guided painting session at BrushBar. Dinner and a movie is great but there’s nothing like making memories through experiences. I can have fun in anything we do but when it’s something new for both of us it creates a new level of bonding that brings us closer together. I always look forward to our next adventure.” – Chris, 30

“Start off with happy hour at a fun cocktail bar where I can get a good Old Fashioned or Manhattan. Follow it up with dinner where I can get a good steak. Doesn’t have to be fancy, just a perfectly cooked ribeye. End with movie, if there is a current Marvel or other superhero movie, that would probably do the trick.” –Colton, 31

“ Start the night at Shaw’s Oyster Bar followed by dinner at Gibson’s in the Piano lounge. After, if we feel like it, maybe late night blues at Kingston Mines.” –Tom, 33

“My ideal date night…”

“Riding our beach cruisers to a local patio (ideally somewhere overlooking the ocean) and just enjoying a drink outside in the beautiful weather and sharing some good laughs with my wife. I’m a simple man and don’t need anything too extravagant, but I’m also impatient so a quiet place like a movie isn’t what I enjoy.” –Brandon, 33

“Go to dinner somewhere near the beach. Walk around after and see the sunset. Then go home watch an action movie and get a massage from my wife”. – Jaime, 33

“Some type of activity together, whether it’s sightseeing, shopping, movie or whatever, then dinner and jacuzzi tub time.” -Alan, 33

“A perfect night is for me (Matt) to cook a good pasta dish for us, take a boat ride and then make a bed of blankets on the floor in the living room and watch either a funny movie or a bang bang shoot ’em up movie.” – Matt, 34

“Get done up, head to a nice restaurant for drinks and appetizers. Beach walk and sunset. Get into comfy clothes at home and snuggle up to a movie or music… you know the REST!!” –Dan, 45

All of these ideas are mellow, romantic, and intimate yet simple and perfect! Ladies, find out what your partners idea of a perfect date night is and plan it (here is one example). Do what they want to do and enjoy it! Now that you know what some men want, open the line of communication with yours. I think you will be pleasantly surprised!

Side note to the men: We don’t need the thrills and fuss over date night! Take us on a date night of your choice…trust me, we will love it!
