If you’ve been following along on our Instagram, I’ve mentioned several times that I’ve been in a funk as of late. Being in this funk is not remotely fun, however, it has brought me back to the importance of taking some time for myself. Some time where I can quiet my mind from all the noise and anxiety that is causing this funk.
My mornings have always been super important to me. They are my favorite part of my day. However, they are usually rushed as I’m trying to get to the gym and then ready for work. Being in this funk though, has me prioritizing my mental health a little more. So much so that 10 minutes of meditating has become a necessary part of my morning routine.
Since getting back into a regular meditation practice, I’ve been able to squeeze in those 10 minutes for the past 3 weeks (even on the weekends!). It is officially a nonnegotiable part of my morning routine and I couldn’t be happier about it.
Each morning, after I get dressed and ready for the gym, I sit in a chair in our living room, open my Insight Timer app and find a guided meditation that I feel will be the most beneficial for me that specific day.
Insight Timer has THOUSANDS of free meditations, both guided and not guided (I much prefer guided). Because of this, it has quickly become one of my most-used apps. Since it’s something I’ve been loving as of late, I thought I would share a few of my favorite guided meditations. These are ones that I listen to on a regular basis.
5 Favorite Guided Meditations Using Insight Timer
Manifest Your Deepest Desires – Melissa Ambrosini
This is a go-to meditation for me. I listened to it for the first time a while back and saved it. When I got back into my routine, it was the first one I listened to. I still listen to it about once a week.
The teacher walks you through a 9-minute meditation focused on manifesting your future self. She has you envision what your relationships look like, what your home looks like and what your career looks like. This isn’t focused on the material things though. It focuses rather on how those things make you feel or what emotions they bring up.
It’s a great one to listen to if you are needing a little motivation or if you really want to hone in on what you want your life to look/feel like.
For Intention Setting
Positive Intention Setting – Georgie Browne
This Positive Intention Setting meditation is a really great way to start your day! As the teacher mentions, it is best practiced while you are still lying in bed and have yet to start your day. I’ve done it sitting in a chair and love it just as much though!
Another 9-minute guided meditation, the teacher walks you through starting your day out in the best way possible. Before any negative thoughts start to creep in. After taking a few minutes to just sit and breath, the teacher then starts in on the positive intention setting. She does this by repeating specific phrases, one of which is “my life IS good today”.
I like this meditation because the repeating of positive mantras first thing in the morning is incredibly beneficial for me. It is a great way to start the day out on the right foot.
Sowing The Seed of Intention – Julie Ela Grace
This is a visual meditation. I am usually not great with visual meditations, however, this one was super easy. I really feel I felt a benefit from it. I’ve gone back to it several times and I am never disappointed.
In this 10-minute guided meditation, the teacher walks you through a visualization practice all about planting seeds of intention. You are guided to literally visualize yourself in a garden, with a handful of seeds. The teacher guides you through planting the seeds and envisioning what blooms and what those blooms specifically mean to you.
Like I said above, I’m not a huge fan of visual meditation, but this one is great if you want a little bit more of a challenge and really want to plant some positive intentions for your day.
For a Confidence Boost
Gratitude Affirmations for the Body & Life – Julie Ela Grace
This mediation is a little hard to listen to your first time as it is pretty fast. However, it is one of my favorites to listen to when I’m needing just a little extra something to get my head in the right space.
A quick 8-minute meditation, the teacher guides you through a series of empowering affirmations designed to increase body positivity and confidence. As you focus on your breathing throughout the mediation, the teacher lists off all we have to be grateful for. The gratitude list is based around our bodies and how they function.
This meditation is a great reminder that our mindset determines everything. If we are able to focus on the positive and talk to ourselves in a positive way we will eventually begin to believe it.
Morning Meditation – Bethany Auriel-Hagan
Another quick mediation, but one of my favorites! I love that it is quick and to the point. It is one of my go-to morning meditations focused on quieting the mind and letting go.
This is only a 6-minute meditation, however, it packs a powerful punch. The teacher will guide you through starting the day fresh and letting go of any other thoughts clouding your mind from the day prior. The main focus is on the breath and that each breath should be cleansing as well as felt throughout our entire bodies.
As I said, this is a great meditation if you are needing to let go of yesterday and are looking to start new. It’s quick, peaceful and incredibly relaxing.
