As I learn more about wellness and how much of what I put into my body effects me, I am looking for everything and anything to help me not only look better (life mission is to solve my hormonal acne), but also feel better. There is so much we can be doing to promote a healthy lifestyle, that I feel, that at times it can get extremely overwhelming. I love learning about it all, but there is SO MUCH information out there that sometimes it can be hard to break it all down and actually incorporate it into our daily lives. So as I continue on this wellness journey and as I continue to learn about everything that we can do to better ourselves, I find it easiest to make small changes. Changes that can be incorporated easily and seamlessly into my current lifestyle.
We all know by now that our health and well being depends so much on what we our feeding our bodies. I’m not going to lie, I am not the healthiest when it comes to what I eat. Unfortunately, eating healthy is not something that comes easily to me. As I continue to work on that aspect of my health and wellness, I have been making sure I incorporate drinks into my daily routine that do more than just quench my thirst. I have read numerous times about the three drinks below and the health benefits of each. With these three drinks, I felt like it was a great way to work some wellness into my daily routine. I have now been drinking them for several weeks/months now and thought I would share why I felt like they were worth incorporating into my diet.
Three Drinks for Better Health
We’ve all heard over and over and over that drinking lemon water is amazing for our health. I’ve incorporated a cup into my morning routine too many times to count. But this time around I’ve stuck with it longer than I ever have in the past and I really do feel like the benefits I read about our true and worthwhile.
When I don’t start my day with a cup of lemon water, I start it with coffee and my water intake is automatically put on hold. So for me, one of the biggest benefits of drinking lemon water is the hydration first thing in the morning. Hydrating first thing in the morning, especially with lemon helps to wake-up our digestive system and flush everything out…which is always a good thing. Another major benefit of lemon water and one of the main reasons I make a point to drink it every morning, is that it is great for our skin. Lemon is full of Vitamin C which helps in the production of collagen and helps to reduce/prevents wrinkles then mixing it with the hydration of water, it’s definitely worth making it part of your “skincare routine”.
Unlike the lemon water, this is my first go-round with chlorophyll. I’ve been adding a tablespoon to a cup of water everyday and while the taste is certainly not as enjoyable as lemon water, it goes down quick and from what I’ve read, the benefits are worth it.
Chlorophyll is what helps to make plants and algae green and it’s been found to also have some benefits for humans as well. It is full of vitamins such as A, C, E and K, rich in antioxidants and minerals. It helps to reduce inflammation, detoxify the body and improves digestive health. It’s also great for aiding in the balance of hormones, which is something I am constantly working on.
I’ve been drinking dandelion tea before bed on and off for years. It all started when I was trying to combat my hormonal acne in my twenties and since we are back there (with the acne, not the twenties :)), I’ve added it back into my nighttime routine.
Dandelion tea is great for digestive health, so drinking it after dinner, but before bed helps your body digest your food prior to calling it quits for the day. It contains Calcium, Magnesium and a slew of other vitamins/minerals, it helps to regulate blood sugar and again, it promotes healthy skin.
All three of these drinks for better health help aide in digestion, promote healthy skin and have a lot of other worthwhile benefits. Working a glass or two of any of these three drinks for better health into your daily diet is an easy way to jump on the wellness train and start living a healthier lifestyle in a quick and do-able way.
