For me, falling asleep has never really been an issue. I can pretty much pass out as soon as my head hits the pillow. This is something I am beyond grateful for. However, staying asleep is sometimes the issue I experience when it comes to sleep.
I’m pretty sure we can all agree that there are few things that are worse than waking up and feeling like we didn’t get enough sleep. Or even just a good night of sleep. It makes getting out of bed hard which in turn just makes getting through the day hard. We much prefer to wake up energized and ready to take on the day. #amiright
In an attempt to hopefully stay asleep through the night, I like to prepare myself before going to bed. This involves setting the alarm on my phone for the morning and putting it away. Reading a book for 15-20 minutes while I sip my Magnesium drink (helps with anxiety!) and turning on my essential oil diffuser filler with a blend designed specifically to help me sleep better.
I have a pretty basic collection of essential oils. I originally bought this set off of Amazon two years ago and then more recently, purchased the Young Living starter kit. Outside of those two sets though, I haven’t purchased any additional oils. Except for Lavender because, as you’ll see below, it is my favorite. So because I have the basics and nothing fancy, these essential oil blends for sleep are just that…nothing fancy. BUT just because they aren’t fancy, doesn’t mean they don’t work. I notice a huge difference in how hard I sleep on nights I use one of these blends versus the nights I don’t.
So if you have trouble falling asleep or trouble staying asleep, use one of these blends in your diffuser and let the aroma lull you into a deep sleep 🙂
5 Essential Oil Blends For Better Sleep
1. Lavender – 6 drops
As I mentioned above, Lavender is my favorite. And yes, I do realize this is not technically a blend, it is my go-to when I’m in need of a good nights sleep.
Because lavender is so calming, relaxing and helps to relieve stress, it is pretty much the holy grail of essential oils when it comes to helping you sleep. And because I love it so much, I include it in every blend I use at night (including all 5 on this list 🙂
2. Eucalyptus – 2 drops + Peppermint – 2 drops + Lavender – 2 drops
Eucalyptus is another favorite of mine. It’s another essential oil that promotes relaxation as well as a clear mind. Mixed with the cooling effect of Peppermint and the calming effect of Lavender, this is one of the essential oil blends for better sleep will help put you to sleep in no time.
3. Eucalyptus – 3 drops + Lemon – 3 drops + Lavender – 2 drops + Tea Tree – 1 drop
While Eucalyptus and Lavender both promote relaxation and a sense of calm, Lemon and Tea Tree will help to purify air as well as promote a healthy respiratory. Relax and breath easy.
4. Lavender – 4 drops + Orange – 2 drops
Another one of my go-to essential oil blends for better sleep…Lavender + Orange. Orange is known to help with insomnia and anxiety, so mixed with the calming effects of lavender, this, to me, is a killer combination.
5. Lavender – 4 drops + Orange – 4 drops + Frankincense – 2 drops
The same blend as above, but with a bonus 🙂
Frankincense is one essential oil you’ll see/hear people talking about all.the.time. For good reason though! When it comes to using it for a sleep blend, Frankincense helps to promote a balanced mind that works wonders when mixed with the calm feeling you get from Lavender.
